Through the power of education, AGAPE HAND has transformed thousands of lives and now has the mission to transform millions more.

In the most disadvantaged Indigenous communities of Peru, such as the Shipibo-Konibo communities of the Amazon, access to education remains deeply unequal. In remote rural and Native communities, more than 4 out of every 10 girls and boys do not attend school, and many of those who do enroll drop out before completing secondary education.

For Indigenous girls, the barriers are even greater. The lack of uniforms, notebooks, school supplies, and menstrual hygiene products forces thousands of girls to leave school, limiting their opportunities and perpetuating cycles of poverty.

Mayra lives in a rural community in Peru, where access to education remains a challenge for many girls. Her family made significant efforts to cover school expenses and basic materials, but resources were limited.

Each day, Mayra walked long distances to attend school. Combined with the lack of adequate supplies and difficult conditions, staying in school became increasingly challenging. Like many girls in her community, she was at risk of leaving school before completing her education.

Her story changed when AGAPE HAND, working alongside the community, provided the educational support she needed. Today, Mayra has the school supplies required to learn, build confidence, and focus on shaping a different future.

After completing their education, we support young women in their transition into safe employment and leadership roles through the AGAPE HAND network, a community of educated women who support the next generation of girls and help drive lasting change in their communities.

We work in partnership with governments to strengthen national education systems, ensuring they better meet the needs of all children.
